Some people say that someone in this field is a person who works only in front of computer programming and just take care of it .
Software engineering is one profession that is known by the term software engineering was popularized in 1968 began on Software Engineering Conference organized by NATO .
Some people mean software engineering or RPL was limited to how to make computer programs . And that's all different .
Definition of software engineering are :
A scientific discipline that addresses all aspects of software production, from the early stages of user needs analysis, determine the specification of user requirements, design, coding, testing to maintenance of the system after use .
Here's the scope of software engineering :

Software requirements specifications relate to the needs and requirements of software.
Software design includes process the determination of the architecture, components, interfaces, and other characteristics of software.
Software construction details related to software development, including algorithms, coding, testing, and the search for errors.
Software testing involves testing on the overall behavior of the software.
Software maintenance includes efforts - when the software maintenance effort has been put into operation.
Software configuration management associated with enterprise software configuration changes to meet specific needs.
Software engineering management related to the management and measurement of software engineering, including project planning software.
Software engineering tools and methods include the theoretical study of the tools and methods of software engineering.
Software engineering process associated with the definition of implementation, measurement, management, changes and improvements to the software engineering process.
Software quality and emphasis on quality of the software life cycle.
That's my explanation of software engineering that I know during school and experience whilst in the workplace.

@ de : if you want to be a programmer you must be strong mentally. hahaha. why I say like that? because during my 2th school and 1th work, I've become a programmer ... must be strong in the field of mathematics, must be smart to manage health to avoid ill, having to deal with computers every day. must stay with programs required by the programmer XD
